Approach

Built on fundamental change

Investment philosophy

Somerled targets companies undergoing material fundamental change — businesses where earnings, growth trajectory, or competitive positioning are shifting faster than the market has priced in.

The strategy focuses on three primary themes: structural macro shifts creating new winners and losers, growth sector inflection points, and event-driven re-ratings ahead of identifiable catalysts.

Process & risk management

  • Event-driven catalyst identification before market pricing
  • Fundamental analysis: operational, financial, management quality
  • Hard stop losses on every position
  • Primarily US-listed equities across growth and structurally shifting sectors
  • Wholesale investors only via separately managed accounts
  • Full transparency — individually titled IB sub-accounts

Edge & approach

The portfolio manager draws on deep commercial experience across global markets, combined with a macro-aware framework for identifying where fundamental change is accelerating ahead of consensus.

Primary focus areas include: technology-driven disruption, energy transition, structural consumer shifts, and companies at earnings inflection points where guidance revisions are likely.

Structure

  • Separately managed accounts — Interactive Brokers
  • Each investor holds individually titled account
  • Australian wholesale / sophisticated investors only
  • Minimum investment: $50,000 AUD
  • Performance fee: 30% of gains (no management fee)
  • CAR under Australian AFSL (application in progress)
  • Full custody and reporting via Interactive Brokers
